Remembering the POW and MIA and those who made the supreme sacrifice. They will not be forgotten.

  • The WWII Veterans Highway

A new law resulting from Senate Bill 449 requires Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to install WORLD WAR II VETERANS HISTORIC HIGHWAY signs near former WWII training sites on US Highway 97 and SR 126. Funding will be provided by veterans, local governments, historical groups, and the public. The Bend based WORLD WAR II VETERANS HISTORIC HIGHWAY COMMITTEE requested the legislation.
  • The Honor Flight Project

Almost ninety (90) percent of WWII Veterans who survived WWII have passed away since the war ended 66 years ago. Approximately 1,000 WWII veterans pass away daily across America. Their average age is in the late 80s.

The Foundation

The Bend Heroes Foundation is organized for the primary purpose of honoring Central Oregon’s military veterans, first responders, and other heroes by raising funds to assist them, create memorials, and scholarships for qualifying Heroes.

Our Projects

Prior to Honor Flight our projects have been the Bend Heroes Memorial on Newport St., and the WWII Veteran's Highway. In 2010 we took on the Honor Flight Project.

Honor Flight

The purpose of Honor Flight is to take our living WWII veterans on the trip of a lifetime to see their memorial. Typically this is a 2.5 - 3 day trip and we take them all around Washington D.C. to see all the sights related to veterans.

To Thank Them For Their Service

Our foundation is funded solely from donations. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to help fund an Honor Flight trip.
